Description

When the angle kicks back and tension matters most, the Drone 2 kicks in. A full-length polycarbonate midsole transfers force so you can toe-in hard and stay tight through the steepest terrain. Its stiff, compression molded design locks your foot into a platform of power, making small feet feel big and big moves feel possible. The LV model is made for narrower feet and smaller heels.

Design Highlights

Polycarbonate Midsole

A molded polycarbonate plate runs the full length of the Drone 2 to offer increased edging performance, support, and flex resistance when standing on small holds.

Technology

Downturned

The downturned nature of the Drone 2 forces power through your toe and locks your foot in position. Designed with a twisted profile, the shoe lets you pull, press, and stick with zero energy wasted.

Design

3D Hooking Heel

Built with input from athletes worldwide, our patented 3D Hooking Heel Cup for Climbing Shoes is the heel that locks and stays locked. Molded grooves bite into hooks, smears, and jams without shifting or surprises. The 'fin' design allows effective use of your heel as a crimp. Made with Science Friction 3 rubber because your heel should feel like a weapon, not a liability.

Technology

Science Friction 3 Rubber

Made in California, our primary rubber formula is stickier, tougher, and smarter. Boasting higher friction, stronger tear resistance, and better memory, SF3 is built to perform. You’ll find it across our 3D Hooking Heel and Compression Molded Toe Box.

Technology

Use Case

The Drone 2 excels when the angle kicks back and the project demands body tension. We recommend the Drone 2 for climbing that requires edging on small holds, power generation, and fighting gravity on steep, overhung terrain.

Design

Low Volume

Low Volume (LV) models are designed for narrower feet with lower insteps and smaller heels.

Excellent shoes, surprisingly stiff, very sticky heel.

I typically wear 40.5 in scarpa drago

I used fabric paint pen to dye mine to match the accent rubber.

This shoe is perfect for underclings and small foot chips. I went with my street shoe size and the discomfort wasn’t as bad as you might think. 10/10

Great

These shoes felt great the one time I got to use them at Stoney point. In that one session it seems like the rubber at the tip of the toe area is starting to almost pill off. Not sure if that's just how this pair I have is wearing or if that's normal for this rubber but I am worried they're going to wear fast because of this.

Hello! I'm sorry to hear about the tip of your shoe. By the way you're describing it, that could potentially fall under our Limited Lifetime Warranty. Please reach out to lifetime@madrockclimbing.com for further help :)
